Running, never standing!

The one thing I hate about Summer…

October 14th, 2007 by gillygirl

There’s one thing I really hate once the weather warms up in QLD. No it’s not the heat, humidity or lack of airconditioning. It’s the early morning starts. It seems my eldest son, nearly 4, has a pre-programed inner alarm clock that is set to daylight! This morning was 5:30am - anything before a 6 is way to early for me. I like 7s much better but alas that’s not going to happen until next winter.

I guess I’ll have to start going to bed early again! hmmmm I don’t think that’s going to happen though…

My sons used to do the same thing. Whether winter or summer we were up at 5.30 am latest 6am. But now that he is 13, well…. we sleep in, can’t even get up early to go to school.

Anyone else experience this either with boys or QLD born babies?
My husband & I are both Queenslanders - our son has always woken up at daylight, he is the baby of ours that was carried & born in QLD - he is a natural daylight waker & always has been, like his Dad. The girls were all carried & born in cooler climes, and like me, don’t mind a lie in if they get a chance (they all share the same room). So just wondering if anyone else can help shed some light on whether it’s a boy thing or a Queensland thing?

Sounds like I hit the double whammy! I think it’s a daylight thing - as soon as it’s up there up. My husband started a 6 am this morning so I was up at 4:58am. Arrgh that’s even before the number 5!!!!

Argh, Charley has just started doing that as well! Usually I get up at 7, make Richie’s lunch and send him off to work, and then make some Weet Bix and a cuppa and have atleast half an hour of watching Sunrise before chookie stirs - sometimes more! But now the sun comes streaming into her room at the crack of dawn - up at 6:30 this morning, which is not good considering a normal bed time for me is about 2am!!

Oh no… that’s way to early!!! My son - a Queenslander born and bred - has never really been a morning person. 6.30am was early for him when he was little - that was okay ‘cos I’m usually up then. Now he’s 15, I have trouble dragging him out of bed for 7.30 on a school day. Weekends… he’ll sleep til lunchtime if given the chance!
