Police Officer of the Year

April 30th, 2007 by gillygirl

My husband came home with some very exciting news… he has been nominated for Rotary’s Police Officer of the Year!  Not only is this great for him but we get to go to a Blacktie dinner - a chance to dress up without kids! Plus dinner and drinks. I’m very excited.

I think this means I need something new to wear, haircut, shoes, the list is endless…

Seriously I’m very proud of him and anyone who has a ...

What do your clothes say about you?

April 25th, 2007 by gillygirl

I read an interesting article in the paper today about how the clothes we wear reflect how we feel about ourselves.  I don’t know what that says about me at the moment. Life with two boys at home doesn’t readily lend itself to glamour but I do my best! Having said that when I do go out I really try to make an effort.

Apparently it is true that if you look good then you feel ...

April 19th, 2007 by gillygirl

gillygirl.minti.com

Things have been busy around here with new winter stock arriving for Nuvo Maternity and everything always seems to happen at once (such as the dreaded BAS). My kids in particular seems to know when things are hectic so I’ve decided I need to slow down and do things bit by bit! Otherwise as a WAHM you can work all the time if you let yourself. I making myself switch off that computer and ...

Time for an X-ray!

April 12th, 2007 by gillygirl

I really am having an interesting week - maybe it is to do with all the chocolate Easter Eggs! Anyway my eldest has been up to it again. I can’t wait to retell his stories at his 21st!

Anyway while I was in the ladies room, Thomas Freak escaped out of the garage and out the side of our house and managed to pull a heavy wheelbarrow onto his foot while his little brother calmly watched ...

The confidence trick!

April 7th, 2007 by gillygirl

Well I’ve been tagged by madmadmummy to talk about confidence.  It is something I’ve always struggled with. On the outside I’m a very outgoing, happy, confident person but there is always a niggling doubt beneath the surface. Along the way though I’ve learnt a few tricks to give myself a necessary confidence boost when needed.

As a primary school teacher I soon learnt if you don’t feel confident than fake it! Children are like animals and sense fear ...

New Breastfeeding Support Group

April 1st, 2007 by gillygirl

After undertaking some research for my online store Nuvo Maternity I have discovered some worrying facts about the lack of support for breastfeeding. A recent article in the Courier Mail found that although around 90% women start breastfeeding this figure falls dramatically by 6 months. The major reasons for stopping early are a lack of support, lack of information and a negative perception of breastfeeding.

Now we all know breastfeeding doesn’t come naturally and can be ...

Prison Break

April 1st, 2007 by gillygirl

Sometimes I feel as if I’m in an episode of prison break - well almost.  My two boys - Thomas Freak, 3 and Bob Fan, 1 are quickly mastering all the necessary skills to escape from the prison I like to call home.

No 1 son has worked out how to unlock the front door and quickly push his younger brother out first as a bit of a scout for prison guards or in this case mum. ...
